Raleigh GAA Fundraiser a Success!

August 26, 2016
Thanks a million to everyone that joined us at Trali Irish Pub-Morrisville last Saturday evening for the annual Raleigh GAA fundraiser. It was a fantastic night and one that really highlighted the best of Irish sport and culture. The Irish dancing by Rince Na h’Eireann/LOQC and music by terrific Irish band Nine Times Around provided great entertainment to everyone at the venue.

The biggest prize of the evening was the trip to Ireland. It was won by Julia Ellard, wife of Corkman, Raleigh GAA stalwart and former fundraising officer Hugh Ellard. In fact, this was the first time in all of the years that the club has raffled this prize, that a club member or spouse has won the trip to Ireland! Well done to Julia and Hugh – we hope you enjoy it!

Interestingly Julia’s ticket was number 107 and the 2nd prize on the night (a princely $500) went to ticket number 7, bought by Frank Francica. Definitely a case of 7 being a lucky number!

Finally I’d like to thank those that made Saturday night possible. Niall Hanley from Hibernian Pub sponsored the top prize which is really appreciated. Martin and Eamonn of Trali Irish Pub-Morrisville hosted the event for the third year in a row, organised the dancers, band and sold over 20 tickets. Annie Nice donated a basket as did Dara o’hAnnaidh and Colin Keenan. Colin also was the master of ceremonies on the night while secretary Joe Nett did Trojan work distributing and tracking sale of tickets. Eddie and Debbie
Foley used their Kerry charm with great effect to sell raffle tickets on the night. Finally, We’d like to thank each of you that bought, sold tickets or even just turned up on the night. Without you there is no club!
