February 2026 | Raleigh, North Carolina
Raleigh Cú Chulainn GAA Club officially launched its 2026 season at a well-attended Players & Coaches Meeting held on February 7th at Hibernian North Raleigh. New and returning members from Gaelic football, hurling, and camogie gathered to connect, meet their coaches, and set the tone for an exciting year ahead.
Chairperson Jonathon Dawson outlined the club’s direction for the season, emphasizing both ambition and structure.
“We want to offer more to our players and social members. We are creating the template for the club and are very excited to launch the season,” Dawson said.
Celebrating Success and Raising Standards
One of the standout moments of the evening came when hurling coach Richie Finnegan passed around a county medal for members to see firsthand — a tangible reminder of what commitment and teamwork can achieve. The club proudly acknowledged that its hurling team are the current National Junior C Champions, a milestone that reflects Raleigh’s growing impact on the national stage.
Player Development at the Core
Field training was confirmed to begin March 24th at Cedar Fork Park in Morrisville, with sessions scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00–8:00pm.
The club also reinforced its commitment to athlete development through its partnership with Athletic Lab, offering heavily subsidized strength and conditioning sessions for members. In addition, a weekly Run Club continues every Wednesday at Southern Peak Brewery in Apex, providing a welcoming space for fitness and connection at all levels.

Competition Calendar Set
The 2026 calendar is packed with opportunity.
The club will host:
- Mens and Womens Football Tournament – May 23
- Hurling & Camogie Tournament – June 6
The club will also travel to many tournaments within the Southeast Division with plans to participate in events outside the division including the USGAA finals this Summer in Boston should the club qualify. The Rec League in February has provided an accessible entry point for new players, while the upcoming International Rules match against NC Tigers Rugby Club promises to be a marquee community event.
Growing the Women’s Game & Club Profile
Club PRO Sandra Holland addressed the importance of visibility and collective support, particularly as the women’s teams continue to grow.
“Visibility matters. As our women’s teams continue to develop and welcome new members, it’s vital that the entire club gets behind them”
Football coach Dan, new to the club this season, expressed strong optimism.
“I’m really encouraged by what I’ve seen so far. There’s a great foundation here, and I’m excited to bring something new to the club.”
Ladies coach Ailbhe echoed that enthusiasm.
“I’m really looking forward to working with a strong team of coaches this season. There’s positive energy throughout the group.”

Built by Community
The meeting also reinforced that Raleigh Cú Chulainn remains proudly volunteer-led. Members were encouraged to support tournaments, fundraising initiatives, sponsorship promotion, social media growth, and St. Patrick’s Day Parade participation.
The message was clear: this season is about raising standards, strengthening culture, and building a sustainable future for Gaelic games in the Triangle.
