Diversity and Inclusion

Raleigh GAA Supplementary Code of Conduct:

Raleigh GAA is made up of a large group of people, and we welcome different views and opinions. Please remember everyone in the club—players, managers, and board members—is a volunteer, and please be supportive and respectful of the Board and of other club members. We grow best when we support each other, even through disagreement.

If you have major concerns, please contact the secretary at secretary.raleigh.southeast.usa@gaa.ie or the chair at info@raleighgaa.com

The Raleigh GAA is dedicated to creating and maintaining an inclusive and diverse community that respects all people and values individuals—where we all belong. As such, we are proud to release our Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-discrimination statement and strive to be a part of positive change within our broader Raleigh and GAA communities.

Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimmination Statement

• Raleigh Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) recognizes the importance of affording equity, equal opportunity, and fair treatment to all present and potential members.

• Raleigh GAA aims to ensure that all people irrespective of their age, gender, ability, disability, race, religion, ethnic, origin, creed, color, nationality, social status, or sexual orientation have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in Gaelic Games at all levels and in all roles. That is, as a beginner, participant, or performer, and as a coach, official, referee, manager, administrator, or spectator.

• It is the aim of Raleigh GAA in its relationships with its members and supporters, and in the provision of its services, not to disadvantage any individual by imposing—through direct or indirect discrimination—any conditions or requirements which cannot be justified.

• Direct discrimination is defined as treating a person less favorably than others are or would be treated in the same or similar circumstances.

• Indirect discrimination occurs when a requirement or condition is applied that—whether intentional or not—adversely affects a considerably larger proportion of people of one age, gender, ability, disability, race, religion, ethnic, origin, creed, color, nationality, social status, or sexual orientation and cannot be justified on other grounds.

As such, Raleigh GAA strives to:

• Provide a welcoming and open atmosphere for ALL club members

• Create an inclusive atmosphere, in which all members have a sense of belonging, of being comfortable, and of being part of something they value.

• Encourage diversity through the accommodation and celebration of our

differences.

 Statement of Responsibility

Raleigh GAA expects all those acting on behalf of the organization to adhere to this policy. In pursuance of this policy, the Raleigh GAA Board reserves the right to address any form of discrimination on the grounds of a person’s age, gender, ability, race, religion, ethic origin, creed, nationality, social status, or sexual orientation that is perpetrated at any club function, in accordance with the Raleigh GAA Inclusion and Diversity grievance procedures.
